Lake Como Bike Tours & Rental

If you are thinking of renting a bike, in addition to planning the itinerary, we ask you for 5 minutes of attention to read the information below and our Legal Documents, to guarantee your complete mutual awareness and peace of mind!

The rental agreement

Our rental agreement will summarize all the rental conditions proposed, including: your personal data and the rental hours.

By renting one of our bikes you assume the responsibility of being equipped with adequate physical capacity to drive and manage a bicycle.

We will take care to inform you about every operation of the vehicle and to mark itineraries that are always suited to your abilities, you will take responsibility for your safety and for any damage caused to the bikes and to third parties during the rental.

Before the rental

A member of our staff will take care to let you try the vehicle, who will have the right to advise against the rental of the bicycle to those who are not deemed able to drive it.

Together we will carry out a test on the bicycle to verify the perfect and suitable functioning of all the mechanical and electronic parts. The same operation will be carried out when the bicycle is returned. Our staff will inspect the bicycle with you to check that no damage has been caused to the vehicle.

Your credit card

As with any rental you will need to show a valid credit card. Don't worry, no amount will be charged or pre-authorized except for any damage to the bicycle during the rental period.

In the case of puncture

In the case of a puncture, you can choose to repair the puncture yourself with the repair kit at a cost of € 12 or contact our staff to arrange a recovery on the road at a cost of € 50 (subject to availability).

What is excluded from the rental

Any damage to the driver, damage to the E-Bike and to every single component, theft of the E-Bike or of the objects supplied, recovery of the bicycle on the road. In case of THEFT the price to be refunded will be equal to the new commercial value of the rented bike or of the entrusted objects supplied with the rental. In the event of the theft of the bike, it will be necessary to report the complaint to the police.

Our liability insurance

The rental service and our staff are expressly exempt from any liability relating to accidents or material damage to the renter and to third parties. In the unfortunate event of an accident or damage to third parties, the bikes and the rental business are covered by a civil liability insurance policy.

Important To Know

- The booking is valid up to 15 minutes after the booked time. Afterwards, the booking will be considered cancelled and no refund is allowed.
- Remember to bring your Passport or ID to sign the rental contract.
- Minimum age: Bikes can be rented by people 16 or older with parent/guardian supervision. Kids under 16 may rent a standard bike.
- It is possible to transport a child up to 7 years old (or up to 20kg) on the baby seat (only by an adult, at an additional cost).
- Minimum height: 160 cm / 5'3".
- The rental is subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund (water cannot get in contact with the electrical devices).
- Theft insurance not available: in case of theft or damage 1000€ will be charged at the rental location and other prices will apply in case of damage to accessories.

3) Go to the App Settings>Preferences>Passcode and enter IN LOWER CASE the provided code

4) Go back to the main page and scroll down to refresh

You need to select Discovering Como and Its Beauties (Walking Tour), tap on the top right to select your language and tap Play Audio to listen to the introduction, then when it’s done, hit START and you’ll see the points you’ll see. As you reach the points, the audio will start automatically speaking.

Electric Bikes

These bikes are pedal-assisted city bikes with a 6-gear Shimano shifter. They weigh about 20 kg and are designed for city environments and short rides, not for trails or off-road. They’re not suitable for long tracks or professional riders. The maximum range (indicative) is 30 km, which depends on factors like weight, start-stop frequency, hills, and power setting.

**Rental Requirements:**

- Minimum age: Bikes can be rented by people 16 or older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and can only transport children up to 7 years old (or up to 20 kg) on the baby seat (at an additional cost).

- Minimum height: 160 cm (5′ 3″).

- Theft insurance is not available. In case of theft or damage, a 1200€ fee will be charged at the rental location, and other fees will apply for damage to accessories.

Standard City Bikes

These bicycles are custom-designed city bikes equipped with a three-speed Shimano shifter and a shaft-drive mechanism, eliminating the need for a chain, enhancing the riding experience. The bikes weigh approximately 20 kilograms and are suitable for urban environments with minimal or no hills, as steep inclines pose challenges for riding.

**Rental Requirements:**

- Minimum age: Individuals aged 16 and above are eligible to rent bikes. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for rental.

- Minimum height: The bikes are designed for individuals with a height of 160 centimeters or 5 feet 3 inches.

- Theft insurance: Theft or damage to the bike will result in a charge of 800 euros at the rental location. Additional charges may apply for damage to accessories.

Cross Bikes

These bikes are standard bikes more similar to mountain bikes, but for city usage, not for the demanding rider. It doesn't have sizes or other professional usage, only for a non-demanding ride in the city center and a little further.

**Rental Requirements:**

- Minimum age: Individuals aged 16 and above are eligible to rent bikes. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for rental.

- Minimum height: The bikes are designed for individuals with a height of 175 centimeters or 5 feet 74 inches.

- Theft insurance: Theft or damage to the bike will result in a charge of 800 euros at the rental location. Additional charges may apply for damage to accessories.

How does identity verification work?

Stunning Bike Co-Tours works with Stripe to conduct identity verification online. Stripe builds technology that’s used by millions of companies around the world such as Amazon, Google, and Zoom. Stripe helps with everything from accepting payments to managing subscriptions to verifying identities.

Stripe helps Stunning Bike Co-Tours confirm your identity by conducting the following checks:

1. Stripe captures images of the front and back of your government-issued photo ID and reviews it to make sure that the document is authentic.They’ve built an automated identity verification technology that looks for patterns to help determine if an ID document is real or fake. This process is like a bank teller checking your ID document to confirm that it’s real.
2. Stripe captures photos of your face and reviews them to confirm that the photo ID belongs to you.They’ve built automated identity verification technology that uses distinctive physiological characteristics of your face (known as biometric identifiers) to match the photos of your face with the photo on the ID document. This process is similar to a bank teller confirming that the photo on your ID document is you based on your appearance—but it’s a higher-tech and more accurate way to identify you as a unique person.
3. Stripe collects your name, date of birth, and government ID number, and validates that it’s real. They’ll check this information against a global set of databases to confirm that it exists.

Stripe will ask for your consent before collecting and using your biometric information. They’ll only use your verification data in accordance with the permissions you grant before starting the verification process, and based on their Privacy Policy.

What are the best practices for a successful verification?

Before starting the verification process, here’s what you need:

• A valid government-issued photo ID document.Not a photocopy or a picture of an ID document. Ensure that the ID document isn’t expired.
• A device with a camera, if possible, use a mobile device. Cameras on mobile devices typically take higher-quality photos than a webcam.

The quality of the images captured affects success rates dramatically. Below are a few best practices to help make sure that your verification succeeds:

• Capture a clear image. Make sure that the images aren’t too dark or bright, and don’t have a glare. Hold steady and allow your camera to focus to avoid blurry photos.
• Don’t block any part of your ID document in the image. Ideally you can lay it flat to take the photo.
• Don’t block any part of your face. Remove sunglasses, masks, or other accessories.
• Find a location with ambient lighting. Avoid spaces with strong overhead lights that cast a shadow on your face or ID document. Avoid sitting directly in front of a bright light which can wash out your face and add a glare to your ID document.

Who has access to my verification data?

Both Stunning Bike Co-Tours and Stripe have access to the information that you submit through the verification flow. We rely on Stripe to help store your verification data. Stripe uses access controls and security standards that are at least as stringent as those used to handle their own KYC and payments compliance data.

Why am I asked to verify my identity?

Hesitant to share your ID information? It’s important to help you understand why we are asking for this information.

Stunning Bike Co-Tours will be checking your verification status on all bookings over a certain value, considered risky, but reserve the right to request this verification for any amount no matter the total.

Whats Next?

Once identity has been verified you will be presented with the amount to pay. We are taking extra precautions as our clientele base is expanding globally.

Why was I rejected?

Stunning Bike Co-Tours may want to offer alternative methods for verification if any user disputes their results.

Can I get verified using a different method?

Remember that privacy laws may require you to provide an alternative verification process that does not use biometric technology if the user does not consent to use of their biometric information. Please consult your legal counsel for regional requirements.

How can I access or delete my verification data?

Once you submit your deletion request, we will determine whether deletion is appropriate. However you should reach out to Stripe as well as Stripe does not delete data on Stunning Bike Co-Tours’ behalf.
